Advance Land and Timber Agents

Mark McMillan, President and CEO of Advance Land and Timber, LLC, has experience in the timberland industry since 1987.  Mark was born and raised on a family farm in Bamberg, South Carolina. Upon graduating from the University of South Carolina with a BS in Finance, he went to work in the insurance industry. His work with forest product insurance programs throughout the southeast included hunting club liability and vacant land liability. His hobbies include hunting and fishing.  He is an avid duck hunter. 
 

Greg Fleming is licensed in Alabama and Mississippi, and has over 30 years of experience in working in agriculture, forestry and education.  He was raised on a cattle/timber farm in the east central region of Mississippi, near Quitman.  Upon graduating from Mississippi State University with a BS degree he worked in Stone County and Quitman school districts teaching agriculture and forestry and serving as a school and district level administrator.  Many of these work years were spent as 16th Section Land Manager for Quitman School District.  His responsibilities included the areas of easement acquisition, hunting leases, utility leases, oil, gas and mineral leases, contracting road maintenance and construction and serving as the point of contact with the state forestry agency and Secretary of State's office.  Greg and his wife Lisa live in the Corner/Bagley Community near Dora, Alabama and have one daughter, Isabella.  He enjoys being outdoors, including hunting, fishing and traveling with his family.

Cole McMillan has had his real estate license since the age of 18.  Upon graduating from The University of South Carolina in 2017, he worked for a private equity group out of Atlanta, GA, which focused on commercial and industrial real estate. Cole rejoined Advance Land and Timber in 2019 and is licensed in SC and GA. In 2023, Cole was appointed a Board Member of the Forest Land Owners Association for a 3 year term, as one of the youngest members to receive this honor. Cole currently serves as Vice President of Advance Land and Timber, LLC.  He is an avid outdoorsmen with a passion for hunting and fishing, lives in Gilbert, SC, and is married to Erin McMillan. 

Mark Kiser is licensed in South Carolina. Mark has 34 years of experience in the timberland and real estate business. He has been a registered forester and member of the South Carolina Forestry Association for 34 years. He is also a member of the Society of American Foresters, First Baptist Church of Newberry, and is a practicing consulting forester. He has extensive knowledge of timberland investments, forestry retirement programs, and wildlife management. His hobbies are hunting and fishing with his family and friends, and coaching sports. He has been married 33 years to Paula and has two sons, Sam and Jeff.

Carwin Owens is licensed in Virginia and North Carolina. He graduated from Liberty University with a BS degree in Economics. Carwin began his career in the lumber industry working for saw mills, distribution plants, buying, selling lumber all over the east coast. In 1999 he started buying and selling timberland eventually getting experience and understanding of the different types of land and markets in Virginia and North Carolina.

Carwin lives in Lynchburg Virginia with his wife Mary and two daughters. He enjoys the outdoors especially fishing and duck hunting.

Jamie is a wildlife enthusiast who loves the outdoors. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Turfgrass Management. He currently owns Pinestraw Headquarters, LLC, which specializes in managing long leaf pine plantations for the harvesting of pine needles. The pine needles are sold for decorative mulch for residential and commercial properties.

His hobbies include whitetail deer hunting, duck hunting, and tournament bass fishing. He also enjoys putting in food plots and managing the properties he hunts, which gives him great experience when helping a client buy or sell recreational property. He can easily look at a property to know how to make it a desirable hunting tract to sell or buy.

Jamie resides in Lake Waccamaw with his wife, Kristin, and two beautiful daughters, Kynleigh and Kamryn.

Bud Cook has been a licensed real estate broker in North Carolina for over 40 years. Bud graduated in 1977 from North Carolina University with a BA in Forestry and has enjoyed working and playing outdoors his entire life.  He has worked as a land manager, procurement forester, forestry consultant, owner of a timber dealership and a real estate broker.  During this time, he has assembled a network of professional, private and individual contacts that assist him in locating buyers and sellers of timber land, farm land, development land and recreational land.  "It is such a great advantage to be a forestry consultant in the recreational land business.  I am able to determine the value of the timber and identify other assets that exist on my clients' land in order to add value to their property."  Bud and his wife, Catherine, live at Lake Waccamaw, North Carolina.  They have two daughters, Kristin and Elizabeth, two sons-in-law, Jamie and Chris, and four grandchildren, Kynleigh, Kamryn, Clara and Ellie.

Skip Valentine brings a long list of experience to the team in NC. The primary focus of his real estate brokerage is farm and recreational land sales. Skip wears many hats in the land business, from being in the hunting operations, farming, wildife management and forestry. This affords the client a wealth of knowledge, when finding or selling that tract of land. Residing in Eastern NC, his hometown is Tarboro NC.  

Zach Antill is licensed in North Carolina and Virginia. Zach has been in the outdoors from the minute he was born!  With his father working as a Forester in the timber industry, Zach has been in and around the timber world his whole life!

Zach studied Forestry all throughout high school under his dad and worked as a Forester Technician in the summers throughout high school and college.  Zach graduated from Montreat College with a Bachelors in Outdoor Ministry and has been a North Carolina Wildlife Enforcement Officer, in addition to being a hunting and fishing guide both professionally and privately.

Zach brings a lifetime of hunting and timberland experience and is a great choice to help you buy or sell hunting and investment properties throughout North Carolina and Virginia.

Ben Jauch is licensed in Virginia.  He is a 2021 graduate of Lenoir Rhyne University with a degree in entrepreneurship.  Born and raised in Forest Virginia, he is an avid sportsman who was taught a love for the outdoors by his grandfather, a lifelong Virginian.  He enjoys hunting, bow-fishing, trapping, and chasing smallmouth bass in the James River.

Zach Ayotte is licensed in North Carolina. 

Zach attended Hampden-Sydney College where he graduated with a degree in Economics and Business. Born and raised in North Carolina, Zach resides in New Bern and grew up in Morganton. Zach has a passion for land and wildlife management and is a North Carolina Forest Service Certified Prescribed Burner. Outside of working with land he enjoys everything the North Carolina outdoors have to offer, especially inshore and offshore fishing, turkey hunting, and duck hunting. 

Fred Wadsworth is licensed in South Carolina. He is married, has three children, and enjoys the outdoors.

Matt Coon is licensed in South Carolina and a lifelong South Carolina resident with a passion for the outdoors and wildlife management. Matt grew up helping manage a family farm in the Lowcountry where he developed his love for wildlife management and hunting, especially turkey. He graduated from Clemson University in 2019 with a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology. Matt has years of experience in managing and building high end hunting properties through various management techniques including prescribed fires, planting food plots, developing infrastructure, duck impoundments, and timber management.

Ronnie McCoy is a graduate of Coker University and is licensed in SC, where he was born and raised. Growing up on a farm in the Lamar area of the Pee Dee region in SC, he has always been an enthusiast for hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities. He is the owner of Fisherman Road Outfitters LLC and an avid angler who regularly competes in Bass tournaments across many eastern states. His hobbies are deer hunting, inshore fishing, and collecting lures.

Jake Fletcher is licensed in Virginia, where he resides with his wife and 2 children. Born and raised in South Georgia on his family’s farm, his roots are imbedded deep in the South. With this upbringing Jake’s passion for the outdoors and experiences in wildlife management have given him the tools and experience to guide clients through the buying and selling of investment properties with a focus on wildlife management. Jake attended Randolph Macon College, where he lettered 4 years on the baseball team and graduated with a degree in Communications. Jake has 15+ years of experience in managing and building high end hunting properties through various management techniques including prescribed fires, planting food plots, developing infrastructure, duck impoundments, and timber management. Jake holds numerous licenses and certifications in the land management sector and works with clients to bring turn key wildlife management properties to the Markets in not only Virginia, but across the US.

Kes Holmes, a resident of Saluda, SC, graduated from Lander University in 1999 with a degree in Business Administration. His love of land and timber was inherited from his father and grandfather, who were both in timber and real estate businesses. He recently retired from his position as Police Chief and Town Administrator in Saluda and is now looking forward to working in Real Estate.  He loves the outdoors and particularly enjoys big game hunting and offshore fishing. He and his wife Lucinda have one son, Luke, and he has a stepson, Chandler.

Mark Vedder has 44 years of forestry experience and 22 years of real estate experience.  He lives in Prosperity, SC, and enjoys outdoor activities with his wife, two sons, and six grandchildren.

Mike Keim is licensed in South Carolina, He joined Advance Land and Timber in May 2003. He is a Registered Forester in South Carolina, Georgia and North Carolina, and Consulting Forester and owner of Keim's Forestry Services, working primarily in the Piedmont Region of South Carolina. With 27+ years experience in forestry, he has a good understanding of timber, timberland, forest management, recreational and aesthetic values! Mike has a passion for the outdoors? He enjoys turkey, dove, duck and deer hunting as well as a good game of tennis. He takes pride in the fact that he is a timberland owner and a tree farmer and feels that this allows him to "practice what he preaches".
Mike and his wife, Kathy, have been married 28+ years. They have two daughters, Kristin and Candice.

Melvin Ezzell has thirty years of experience, and has successfully managed over 300,000 acres of forestland in North Carolina, South Carolina, and the Caribbean. 

Melvin has been responsible for full cycle land management and land development to include acquisition, sustainable silvicultural practices, conservation easements, preforming and coordinating comprehensive market analysis, planning, permitting, through disposition.  He was the project manager for three marina projects in NC that generated in excess of 30 million in boat slip sales from 2007-2010.  In 2016 he was an integral member of the management and marketing team that successfully relaunched a major Caribbean golf course community, to include the hosting of a major PGA event.

Melvin holds credentials as a NC Real Estate Broker, NC Registered Forester, Fire Wise Community Specialist and is a member of the Society of American Foresters.
